Cape Mentelle 2018 Rosé (Margaret River)

After the blanket of reduction that plagued the 2017, the latest vintage of this west coast rosé is back to the solidly medium style of 2016, although it still feels a little overworked and over sulfured. The color is radiant pink—somewhere between Provence and Rioja—and the nose offers aromas of cherries, watermelon and dried herbal strawberry-leaf tones. The palate feels like there's just a touch of residual sugar although it's barely detectable amidst the mouthwatering acidity, juicy red fruit and slightly creamy texture. Christina Pickard
