Carl Ehrhard 2004 Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland Auslese Riesling (Rheingau)

Reasonably priced, this fruit-bowl auslese boasts hints of dried apricot, heaps of ultraripe stone fruit and just enough citrusy notes for balance. It's a more classic vintage, so not as rich or unctuous as the 2003s or 2005s, but leaner and more focused, with a balanced, fresh finish. Drink now–2020. Joe Czerwinski
