Casa Donoso 2016 1810 Cabernet Sauvignon-Carmenère (Maule Valley)

Spiced plum and berry aromas are a bit rough, raw and herbaceous. A sappy palate is full in body and plodding, while this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère tastes of blackberry, mint and chocolate. Spicy, herbal plum notes linger on a warm finish. Given the rainy difficulties of 2016 in Chile, this has to be viewed as a success. Michael Schachner
