This is a complex but approachable example of a fine Chilean red blend. Led by Cabernet Sauvignon, this six-grape combo smells lightly roasted, spicy and chocolaty, with olive and blackberry scents. A juicy, fresh, layered palate has both spine and cushion; forward berry and medicinal cherry flavors finish smooth and balanced, with dashes of oak, baking spices and herbs. Drink through 2022. Michael Schachner

What Is Blind Tasting?

All tastings reported in the Buying Guide are performed blind. Typically, products are tasted in peer-group flights of from 5-8 samples. Reviewers may know general information about a flight to provide context—vintage, variety or appellation—but never the producer or retail price of any given selection. When possible, products considered flawed or uncustomary are retasted.
