Castello di Monsanto 1999 Riserva (Chianti Classico)

Intense in the nose, with sharp leathery notes. Pure and clear cherry fruit forms the basis of what is a splendidly clean palate. The finish is tannic and tight, but it provides excellent support for the wine and indicates that it will age well. This is a leaner, traditional wine. Fanatics of fat, rich fruit bombs may not be impressed. —M.S. Michael Schachner
