Cayuse 2019 Cailloux Vineyard Syrah (Walla Walla Valley (OR))

Fruit for this wine comes from the oldest vineyard in the Rocks District—which the winery refers to as the Stones—planted in 1997. Co-fermented with Viognier, the aromas bring notes of orange oil, black pepper, olive and firepit that are somewhat subdued for the producer and region. The palate is svelte and flavorful, mixing fruit and savory. Soot notes linger on the finish. Sean P. Sullivan
