Like a cherry tart coming out of an oven somewhere deep in the Chiantishire on a damp afternoon, the nose on the Cecchi Chianti Classico Gran Selezione has fruit and spice set against a woodsy, wet stone backdrop. The cherries become denser on the palate, and the wood fire and spices grow meatier. Tannins are ripe for aging certainly another 10 years. Danielle Callegari
