Extra-long macerations by winemaker Scott Sampler add intriguing complexity to his wines, including this bottling from Larner Vineyard. The nose combines a wide array of herbs with white pepper dust, gamy meat, condensed purple flowers and dark fruit. There's a touch of balsamic to the sip, where coffee, black currant and blackberry flavors meet with leather and roasted beef.
