Bay leaf and tarragon aromas give herbal depth to the brighter red-fruit and dried earth aromas on this bottling by Scott Sampler, who macerates his wine for many months. There are savory qualities to the sip, which is reminiscent of a pizza sauce, with oregano, cherry, red plums and dried mushroom flavors. Matt Kettmann
