Chabot Armagnac Vintage 1976

Disappointing bouquet offering faint odors of rubber pencil eraser, unsweetened gum, and white raisin, with just the frailest hint of toffee. The palate entry is pleasingly sweet and maple-like; at midpalate the low-key flavor develops a bit more grip in the form of the sweet toffee first noted at the tail end of the nosing phase. Finishes appealingly sweet and mildly maple-like. P.P.
