Chalone Vineyard 2016 Reserve Pinot Noir (Chalone)

Cellar Selection

Wines from this rugged appellation east of the Salinas Valley always need extra time to evolve, and that's the case with this bottling, which begins with aromas of wet clay, red currant and strong soil scents. The palate is dense with earthy tones, yet bright red-currant flavors pop through clay-like flavors and will integrate more fully with time. Drink 2020–2031. Matt Kettmann
