Chapel Down 2014 Kit's Coty Coeur de Cuvée Chardonnay (England)

Rounded notes on the nose have the richness of brown butter and toasted hazelnut. The palate confirms this with rich, toasty notes from oak aging, aligned with the Amalfi lemon zest notes that run along a central vein of vibrant freshness. The mousse is superfine and creamy and reveals a chalky depth that is also reminiscent of ripe but tart Cox's Orange Pippin apple. A very fine sparkling wine of exquisite poise with beautiful length and an astonishing umami finish. Anne Krebiehl MW
