Chappellet 2011 Signature Chenin Blanc (Napa Valley)

Editors' Choice

A terrific Chenin, one of the best California has ever produced, and one of the few that is a sheer pleasure to drink. It's crisp in acidity, dry yet smooth and sweet in honey-infused citrus, peach, orange blossom and mineral flavors, and the finish is long and spicy. The wine saw no oak, but was aged in concrete eggs, which give it a creaminess that could almost be from oak. The grapes are from the winery's estate vineyard, on Pritchard Hill.
