Charles Krug 1999 Family Reserve Sangiovese (Napa Valley)

Editors' Choice

A welcome addition to early-drinking reds from this historic winery. The wine is very dry and crisp, with easy tannins. The flavors? Slightly bitter and dusty, bringing to mind less-than-ripe cherries with hints of tobacco and sage. It has a round suppleness that's hard to describe, but will be fantastic with Italian fare.
