Made of 80% Shiraz and 20% Carignan, this is a savory, stalky, peppery red with brambly berry fruit, plum, tree sap and mint. There's a slight charred meaty note that's present but not oak-derived. The palate shows both power and restraint, thanks to fresh acidity; taut, skinsy tannins, and juicy fruit. It's a medium-bodied expression that could be chilled slightly and drunk on an early autumn or spring evening. Christina Pickard
