Château Arton 2007 Haut-Armagnac

The Millésime expressions are “only released if the vintage is of exceptional quality, and from the very best of one or two barrels,” the producer says. No arguments about this selection; it needs a little dilution to tame the alcohol intensity, but after that adjustment it's a wash in soothing mocha, dried fig and brown butter. This Armagnac was distilled and barreled in 2007, and was released at 10 years old. Kara Newman
