Initial reductive funk blows off to reveal smoke-flecked cherry notes on this wine's nose. The palate comes in with concentrated but well-controlled juiciness that speaks of black-cherry density, ripeness and a firm, fine web of tannin. This wine is muscular, ripe and elegant, finishing with enlivening freshness. Anne Krebiehl MW
