Château d'Or et de Gueules 2011 Trassegum Red (Costières de Nîmes)

This is a full-bodied, creamy-textured, superripe wine that should be consumed over the next few years for its opulent dark fruit. It calls to mind black-cherry compote swirled with dark chocolate. There's even a hint of mint to garnish. The composition is 50% Syrah, 25% Carignan and 25% Mourvèdre, with the Carignan and Mourvèdre coming off 80-year-old vines. Joe Czerwinski
