Château Puech-Haut 2018 Tête de Bélier White (Languedoc)

Christmas-like baking spices—clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, molasses, chocolate, black pepper—hit the nose immediately and are complemented by perfectly ripe blackberry, black plum and mission fig on the nose of this wine. It boasts a full, voluptuous mouth feel with just a hint of warmth—enough to keep that Christmas, cozy-by-the-fire theme going, although ample acidity ensures balance throughout. The tannins are firm yet mature, adding structure and a crushed-velvet texture. While it is enjoyable now for those who like intense pours, this should hold well through 2030.
