Chateau Ste. Michelle 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon (Columbia Valley (WA))

A straight-ahead, no-frills effort that shows herb-tinged cassis and cherry fruit and tight, dry tannins. A hint of tobacco and green tea enlivens the finish. This wine surely will prove cellar-worthy; it may not reach its peak for at least a decade. Paul Gregutt
