Chateau Ste. Michelle 1999 Cold Creek Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Columbia Valley (WA))

This vineyard's Cabs have a way of fooling you; very young and tightly wound upon release, they often unfold into glorious Bordeaux-like wines after a decade or so. This is true to form: compact cassis and cherry fruit, hard tannins, and some nice espresso highlights exist, but need a lot more time to age. —P.G. Paul Gregutt
