Limited production (just 1,800 cases) and special handling (native yeast, barrel fermented, lot selection) make this the prestige Chardonnay offering from the entire Ste. Michelle portfolio. Much of the fruit is from original (1973) plantings at the Cold Creek vineyard, and gives the wine depth and resonance. This vintage has had plenty of time to absorb the new oak and integrate the flavors, and is drinking beautifully.
