Chateau Ste. Michelle 2009 Cold Creek Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Columbia Valley (WA))

This workhorse vineyard supplies grapes to a wide variety of wines across the entire Ste. Michelle portfolio, but the vineyard-designated wines are much more limited, and they're often the best of show. As the alcohol reaches 15.5%, this selection is sappy, dense and a bit warm. There's plenty of fruit flavor and concentration, but it's difficult to pair such a blockbuster with food. Paul Gregutt
