Chauffe-Coeur VSOP Calvados

The nosing passes find buttery scents on top of baked apple and wood aromas with additional nuances of nutmeg, apple peel, flowers and earth. Entry taste is austere at first, then it explodes in assertive waves of apple pastry, mineral and oaky vanilla; the midpalate adds a delicious layer of honey and light toffee. Finish is elegant, dry to off-dry and wonderfully toffee-like. P.P.
