CheckMate 2017 Attack Chardonnay (Okanagan Valley)

Two vineyards are in the blend, fermented together in a single foudre. It has a Bourbon barrel note running across the palate, a seamless mix of citrus, apple and green melon. The new foudre added some baking spice accents as well, and the wine has a pleasing sharpness, along with overall balance. Still showing some youthful edges, it should continue to evolve nicely over another half decade. Paul Gregutt
