Chehalem 2017 Ridgecrest Vineyard Pinot Noir (Ribbon Ridge)

Medium cherry fruit and cherry pit flavors come up quickly in this fresh and forward palate. The wine turns a bit astringent as the tannins bring drying flavors of tea leaves. This spent time in 38% new French oak, as did the reserve from the same vineyard, but here for only 11 months rather than 18. Paul Gregutt
