Chigi Saracini 2001 Poggiassai Sangiovese (Toscana)

Editors' Choice

Talk about a nose that announces what's to come: coffee, licorice, dark spice and sensual black-fruit aromas all indicate richness and modernity. Very much a 21st-century wine in that it pours on those ripe, extracted, lush characteristics. Soft but balanced; it's 90% Sangiovese with 10% Cabernet. Michael Schachner
