Clarendon Hills 2016 Kangarilla Grenache (McLaren Vale)

Reminiscent of Southern Rhône, this deeply hued, dense Grenache is under natural cork. Initial mustiness takes time to blow off and reveal the plump, slightly raisiny berry and plum fruits and floral notes. Savory roasting herbs and spices and river-stone nuances follow. Tannins are powerful and powdery, cinching the juicy, silky fruit and spice. This wine still has life, through 2026 at least. If drinking now, get the decanter ready and serve with roast lamb.
