Clos Saint Michel 2017 Red (Châteauneuf-du-Pape)

Intriguing notes of underbrush and brambly berries accent this delicately herbaceous red. A plump, unoaked blend of 40% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 30% Mourvèdre, it offers concentrated blackberry and raspberry flavors anchored by fine-grained but gripping tannins. Finishes on a kiss of raspberry candy. Best now–2030. Anna Lee C. Iijima
