The Boushey vineyard's Syrahs are always a joy, and this once again is at the top of the heap among all five of the 2006 Syrahs from Coeur d'Alene Cellars. It simply has more grip, more spice, more weight and complexity than the others. A relatively cool site, Boushey ripens Syrah to un-jammy blue fruit flavors, with strong elements of earth, herb and smoked meat character. Careful barrel aging rounds it off with a mocha finish.
