Apple peel-like scents greet you early-on; further time in the glass reveals much deeper, more profound aromas that resemble milk chocolate, cream and cotton. Taste is clean, acidic and sap-like, then at midpalate the flavor turns slightly sweeter as if the apples were harvested a day before full ripeness. Simply one of the best vintage Calvados I've sampled. P.P.

What Is Blind Tasting?

All tastings reported in the Buying Guide are performed blind. Typically, products are tasted in peer-group flights of from 5-8 samples. Reviewers may know general information about a flight to provide context—vintage, variety or appellation—but never the producer or retail price of any given selection. When possible, products considered flawed or uncustomary are retasted.
