This Montepulciano is a bit reductive to start, the barnyard notes distracting from the ripe red and and black fruit, leafy herbs, licorice and chocolaty, sweet spiced oak. The palate feels similarly muffled and reductive with a pinch of acidity, chalky tannins and quite a bit of oak showing, as well as some alcohol warmth. Christina Pickard
