This high-altitude wine shows a cool, rubbery essence but also warmth, animal notes and rusticity. It's polished to a point, but also a wild ride. The palate is lightly saucy and spicy, and the fruit isn't overly defined or welcoming. But in between the folds there's power and bite. Michael Schachner
