Columbia Crest 1996 Reserve Red (Columbia Valley (WA))

This is tight and textured like Bordeaux, but shows off the dark, ripe fruit of a pricier Napa Valley wine. Dense, dark and lush, with black cherries, cassis and plenty of toast. The generous acids define it, and the plush fruit carries it through to a satisfying finish. Paul Gregutt
