Continental Divide 2017 Cabernet Franc (Grand Valley)

Intense aromas of pencil shavings and wood carry the nose, while a quiet red berry note can be coaxed from the glass with some swirling. A ripe blueberry flavor opens the palate, but is quickly smothered by intense woody and coffee notes, loosely accented by vanilla. The tannins are relatively tame, while the acidity is balanced. Oak and nutmeg are all that remain on the finish. Fiona Adams
