Cortes de Cima 2001 Incógnito Syrah (Alentejo)

This cleverly packaged Syrah (check the back label) tastes more like an Aussie Shiraz than a Northern Rhône, but given Alentejo's climate, that's to be expected. Vanilla-laced oak frames big blackberry flavors that finish with a slight sensation of sweetness. It's a mouthfilling, fruity wine that doesn't lack for flavor. Joe Czerwinski
