Coruce 2012 Zinfandel (Antelope Valley of the California High Desert)

Editors' Choice

From a newer, high-elevation appellation north of Los Angeles, this promising bottling shows fat blueberries, shaved milk chocolate, a sprig of thyme and a leaf of mint on the nose. The palate packs decent acidity and black gravel minerality atop oregano, thyme and dried sage, with cola and vanilla-laced blueberry fruit. Matt Kettmann
