Cottesbrook 2015 Pinot Noir (Canterbury)

Pale cherry in color, this over five-year-old Pinot already seems tired, with fading red-berry fruit and a volatility that flattens rather than lifts. Savory dried herbs and oak nuances are there too. Things don't improve on the palate, unfortunately, which feels a little sour, bitter and texturally watery, the oak juts out on the finish.
