Cottonwood Winery of Oregon 2012 Marina Piper Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley)

Scents and flavors of sandalwood and root beer come up first, with strawberry and cherry fruit following. Sourced principally from Winter's Hill vineyard, it's a gentle wine that gains momentum through the finish. Slightly reductive burnt rubber notes come in late, but with vigorous aeration the flavors smooth out. Paul Gregutt
