Craggy Range 2009 Sophia Red (Hawke's Bay)

This vintage of Sophia is almost two-thirds Merlot, with smaller amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Hints of hickory smoke and mint mark the nose, while the palate is more about ripe black cherries and vanilla. It's full bodied and round in the mouth, with supple tannins that make it approachable now. Drink now–2023. Joe Czerwinski
