Red fruit, licorice, Christmas spice and toasty oak take up the lead in this Bordeaux blend. The silky-textured fruit on the palate is overlaid by powerful, granular tannins that feel somewhat astringent. They're not helped by the oak, which is a little aggressive and drying, making it hard to find generosity of flavor. Christina Pickard
