Daisy Creek 2018 Petit Verdot (Rogue Valley)

The grape has its fans as a varietal wine, though it's mostly seen as a minor component of a Bordeaux blend. Strongly tannic, herbal, chewy and tough, this pushes its brambly berry fruit to the limit, competing against the strong earthy and herbal flavors. The tannins are kept in check, but the green herbal character, much like Carmenère, comes through. Paul Gregutt
