Damiani 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon (Finger Lakes)

This is very muted when first poured. After plenty time open in the glass, the plum, black cherry and black currant fruit float to the fore, followed by tobacco leaf and chocolaty oak. The palate goes a similar direction, with more plum and dark-berry fruit. Tannins feel oak-driven and drying, but the varietal character doesn't get lost. Christina Pickard
