Continuing an ongoing exploration of numerous vineyards and fermentation techniques for Chardonnay, this new wine was entirely made in concrete egg. Perhaps it would work better to blend it with some barrel-aged wine, as the effect here is to flatten it out. There's a cement-like minerality, but the apple-flavored fruit is somewhat muted overall. Not a bad wine by any stretch, but it lacks the liveliness of the others in the portfolio. Paul Gregutt
