Fruit for the Capriccio comes from the oldest Chardonnay block in an estate vineyard rising to nearly 2,000 feet above sea level in the Rogue Valley. The wine is made with a combination of Robert Young 17, Dijon 76 and Wente 72 clones, aged in 26% new French oak. The aromas of red clover and melon are sweet, but they are tempered by a savory note of seared beef. Capriccio is a rich, thick mouthful of ripe yellow apples and dragon fruit. The wine's acidity is almost as elevated as the estate vineyard. Michael Alberty
