D'Angelo 2016 Caselle (Aglianico del Vulture)

The dark-chocolate-covered cherries on the nose of this Aglianico are pressed up against herbal, savory notes, from coffee grinds to top soil. A peppery palate leans savory, again with notes of rare red meat and gravel, and is bound up with tense but slowly softening tannins for a wine that's ready to drink now but could certainly be held to see what develops.
