94pointsDaou 2017 Eye of the Falcon Reserve Red (Paso Robles)

Very dark in the glass, this blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Petit Verdot is savory on the nose with toasted wood, soy, dense mushrooms, iron and bittersweet-chocolate aromas. Dense blackberry and black-olive flavors arise on the sip along with charred beef and black-pepper tones. The acid is thorough and tannins are firm. Matt Kettmann
