D'Arenberg 1998 The Dead Arm Shiraz (McLaren Vale)

An inky, dark candidate with blackberry and black pepper from stem to stern. Licorice, black (of course)accents and lots of toasty oak abound through the tangy finish. Has good depth, tart sweet fruit and tangy acidity, but is a bit hard...will it blossom? Needs time, and may open, but the dark wrap is tight now.
