The nose opens with ripe blueberry, blackberry and dark cherry aromas sitting beside coffee and wood spice. The palate big, grainy-textured, leathery tannins amidst berry fruit and oak flavors. Despite its bulk, it is relatively approachable now, but ideally it needs more time—up to 15 years—to settle in. Drink through 2034. Christina Pickard
