This is quite closed and dense at the moment. Eventually, with plenty of swirling in the glass, it reveals notes of dark cherry and plum fruit framed by mocha oak, savory spice, tree sap and cedar wood. The palate is powerfully structured with astringent tannins. The fruit manages to squeak through, but this needs some serious protein and a decanter to be penetrated. Christina Pickard
